Branding
- cowboys do it. Walt Goshert at The Marketing Caddy
recently made a great blog post on this subject. Walt
reminds his readers to spend some time thinking about
their USP (Unique Selling Proposition) before starting
off on their branding adventure. Branding is one of
the most important parts of doing business - online

| Traditionally,
marketing and sales have gone in hand. Marketing is
the entire process of creating, pricing, distributing,
and promoting a product or service. Selling is getting
your product into their hands. Online marketing, like
traditional marketing, is the entire process of building
relationships with people who want what you have to

marketing. Pricing is marketing. Distribution is marketing.
Customer service is marketing. Read

jobs. |

Building and developing a website is an ongoing
process, but you need a firm foundation in place
to ensure your site's success for the long-term.

but a critical component of your web professional's
services. From developing high
quality content to optimizing each and every page
on your site, your web professional must create
an integrated system that captures all three essential
elements: website design, website development and
website promotion to create a site that sells.

Integrated marketing is all about
getting creative with getting your message to your
target market. I discuss this concept in detail
with Chris Witting on his Internet Talk Radio Show,
"Tracking Business Leaders." These marketing tactics
are relatively new for small business owners, but
many small business owners are using them very effectively.

Facebook is soon introducing a new feature that
it calls Facebook Connect. The idea is connected
with something called data portability. The end
result is your local business website can be a
social networking tool for members in your local
community. You can "piggyback" off the success
of Facebook to make your website a social network
that local members of your community turn to to
meet and do business. Continue

Yesterday
I told you about a new application from Facebook
that lets you turn your local business website into
a social networking community. It's called Google
FriendConnect. The Google tool is compatible with
Facebook as well as other online social networking
tools like hi5, Orkut, and Plaxo. Plus, it is compatible
with social networking sites as well.
